Whether you are registering for the first time or updating your profile after starting a placement, follow the steps below.
Registering on HSeLanD as a Student
Registration on HSeLanD is only available to students enrolled on Health and Social Care programmes at NFQ Level 7 and above in selected Higher Education Institutions. Students will need to enter their student number and select their Higher Education Institution in order to proceed with HSeLanD registration.
When a student’s enrolment ends, they are required to update their profile details to reflect their current place of employment or close their account.
In order to set up a HSeLanD account:
- Select Register on the sign-in screen.
- Read our Privacy Policy and select Continue at the bottom of the screen.

You will be taken to the Registration screen, where you can enter your personal details. Consider the following while creating your account:
- Email address - you must use your own personal or work email address and not that of a colleague or office. If you do not have an email address, then select the link next to the email field to find a free email service.
- Choose a Username - enter a unique Username and Password - something you can easily remember. For example, enter 'your name' and 'your year of birth' (Joebloggs1981). You will enter these details each time you sign into HSeLanD.
- Choose a password - you must ensure that your password fits the below complexity requirements:
- Select a security question - you will be asked to answer this question if you contact HSeLanD support.
- Select the Continue button once you have entered your details.
- You will then be taken to a cookie preference page. Please read through this.
Once you have done this, you will then be prompted to verify your email address; this will arrive in your inbox.
Once you have verified your email address, you should then sign in with the email and password for your HSeLanD account. Then you will have to enter some final details before selecting your current role/location.

Updating your student profile after receiving a placement
If you already have a HSeLanD account and have recently secured a placement:
- Log in to https://ids.hseland.ie/Account/Login/
- Select the 'update your profile' link
- Update your location, personnel number, date of birth, location and role.
- If your placement is with the HSE or another location using staff verification on HSeLanD your personnel number and date of birth will be used to verify you as a staff member.
